How Whole Life Insurance Works (Design & Function)

This podcast will be helpful to those who want to keep more of the money they make, grow their wealth and have financial peace of mind.

On a side note… We have Jasper here in the studio with us this morning. He’s 9 weeks old German Shepherd Puppy. Jasper is our up and coming guard dog. We have a guard dog up at our house already, her name is Lulu, she’s a german shepherd also and does a great job, She patrols around our house, but Jasper’s duties will be to guard the barn area.

German Shepherds and Life Insurance go hand in hand in our family. Listen to hear the story on todays episode of Wealth Talks Podcast.

Financial Protection and Puppies: A Lesson in Commitment

We have a special guest in the studio today – Jasper, our nine-week-old German Shepherd puppy who already weighs 19 pounds.  With paws that hint at his future size and strength, Jasper isn’t any German Shepherd. His blood lines come from Czech and German ancestry, and he promises to become a strong and capable guard dog, well equipped for protecting the shop.

Our journey with German Shepherds began after burglars broke into our house and robbed us. We asked the police officer what we could do to prevent future robberies, and his advice was simple: get a dog. We didn’t settle for any dog; we bought a trained German Shepherd from the breeder who trained the police dogs in Oregon.

Our current German Shepherd, Lulu, takes her job of guarding the house and her people very seriously.

Commitment: The Key to Success

Whole life insurance and German Shepherds share a common thread: commitment. Many people get a German Shepherd puppy (they are so adorably cute) without realizing the responsibility involved in raising it to be a disciplined dog.

Believe it or not, the same goes for whole life insurance. When you start a policy, it’s essential to commit to the required premiums. These premiums, much like the consistent training of a puppy, should fit comfortably into your routine.

We’ve seen people adopt German Shepherds without understanding the commitment, leading to undisciplined habits that are hard to correct. Similarly, some purchase life insurance policies without fully grasping their structure, resulting in policies that don’t serve their intended purpose. Proper training and structure from the beginning are needed for both a guard dog and a whole life insurance policy.

What Type of Protection Do You Need?

Not all policies are created equal. A policy needs to be designed with high cash value from the start and must align with IRS tax laws to be effective. Sometimes, it’s better to start fresh with a new policy rather than trying to fix an ill-suited one.

Our recent experience with another robbery underscored the importance of tailored protection. Thieves targeted our shop, an area outside Lulu’s patrol. This highlighted the need for specific coverage, just as different financial needs might require multiple insurance policies and that’s where Jasper comes in.  He’s not just an adorable puppy, he has a specific purpose and his training has already started.

A well-designed whole life policy acts as a financial guard dog, ready to provide funds when needed. Just like Lulu, who instantly reacts to protect our home, a good policy offers near-instant access to funds for emergencies or opportunities.

The discipline and responsibility required to train a puppy into a reliable guard dog are the same qualities needed to manage a whole life insurance policy effectively. Both require a long-term commitment and integration into daily life. The results, whether a loyal dog or financial security, are worth the effort.

Think On Protecting Your Own

So, as you consider your financial protection strategies, think of Jasper. He has the potential to be a valuable asset or a challenge. With the right training and commitment, he will be a treasure to our family for years to come, just as a well-managed whole life insurance policy can provide lasting financial security.

Stay tuned for our next episode, where we’ll discuss how much life insurance you should have. It’s a common question with important implications, and we’ll explore it thoroughly. Until then, remember the lessons from Jasper and Lulu: commitment, discipline, and the right foundation are keys to success in both canine training and financial planning.
